Clean Challenge

The Truth

Before starting BEE-OCH, I learned that people use an average of 12 different health/beauty products each day.
This in turn can expose that person to upwards of 100 individual chemicals daily.
Many of these chemicals are known carcinogens, linked to hormone disruption, skin disorders and more because of how readily they are absorbed through the skin.
The lack of regulation in the cosmetics and personal care products industry in the U.S. makes it possible for this to continue.
It is SO important to read ingredient panels (all the way to the end of the list) because toxins are fairly easy to avoid as long as you look.

Your Resources

BEE-OCH has been a business member of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics for over 3 years... We are working together to clean up the beauty isle by pushing for new legislation on the federal level and spreading awareness of the need.

Check your products: Skin Deep Database is where you can search thousands of specific products or individual ingredients and check their safety ratings (a lower number is better).

Download the full "Red List" of chemicals to avoid.

Read: Not Just a Pretty Face: The Ugly Side of the Beauty Industry by Stacy Malkan (this is the book that started it all for me! Link is the first half in digital format)

Watch: STINK! a great documentary about the chemical industry itself, everything from perfume to clothes (available on Netflix)

The Challenge

Making the switch to safer products can be a challenge in itself, especially with things like deodorant. Rest assured we stand behind our products 100%.

With the New Year approaching, I'm challenging you to kick the chemicals in your daily routine! Whether, it's my organic line or a different one, just make the switch!

Like most changes, it doesn't happen overnight. Here's how to get started:
1. Count the number of chemicals in your current products (skin deep database can help) so you are aware what you apply each day.

2. For one full week, read every single ingredient panel (food or product).
3. Switch one product at a time (one per month is do-able) and maybe choose based on which product has the most ingredients.
4. Be sure to recycle all those old bottles ;)

5. Reach out for any help along the way!
